Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Days 10, 11 and 12

I paused because of day 9 but then decided I should move on and work on 9 when I can. (It's writing a ficlet or doing something creative, and we all know where I stand with that lately...)

Day 10
It is to rec a creator and, well, I'm a consumer. I do fics like drugs, I just care that they satisfy my needs and don't really think about them beyond that. There are just a few creators I know by name, whose works I read with more than just "gimme what I need now" and my favorite is on my flist so this is awkward and I'll put it under a cut.

Basically I read Sena since my SPN days and, well, timeline doesn't matter but I moved into bandom some time after she did. So, she writes mainly bandom now but there's also SPN, J2, Due South and CSI there if you're interested.
The main thing I like about her writing is that she puts in these little details that aren't necessary for the plot but they help relate to the characters, because a lot of it are feelings/problems we've been through and were relevant to us but we forgot them when the moment passed. It puts the characters in certain moods and mindframes in the story and helps build up who they are beyond this famous person image we have.
It's like (and she probably does) she has this image of exactly who the character is, what they like and hate and how they will react to things and why. It's possible it fascinates me because my writing process is more OMGWTFBBQ!
Another thing I like is that she sounds like she really knows what she's talking about. Like, she gets specific about stuff and sounds so sure about it I never know if she's making it all up or if she actually saw the place/did the thing/went through the process, but I believe her anyway.
And because making lists is easier, I guess the third thing I like about her writing is the way she "writes" emotions. I really dislike fics where characters have stuff happening and then they are in love in the end and really it was obvious all along because A bought coffee for B that one morning. I know some people like them, I read my share of famous fics like that, and... not for me. I will also read extreme-woobie fics, but that's because I'm an emotions-junkie, but they are a guilty pleasure. (I'm a bit of an in-character-pls snob.) Sena keeps a good balance. There are feelings but they aren't everything and they aren't hidden either. I won't get embarrassed and I won't forget who the pairing is.
I wish I could be more poetic about this but I can't and I don't want to quote her without permission so just go read this Pete/Patrick AU fic.

Well, I also adore the way she writes Spencer Smith and the way she writes conversations and the way she conveys guilt but I'm done now. No more. Go read.

The end.

day 11:
"In your own space, ask for recs."

Hm, I think... no one can help me with most of what I can't find and what I can find, well, I can, but I will say, if you ever find a Nicholas Hoult fic, rec it to me, I don't care about he pairing :)

Day 12

"Rec at least three fanworks that you think would make a good intro into XYZ fandom. Rec a fandom overview, a introductory picspam, stories that define and shape the fandom."

I will go with Sherlock fandom and of course I have to start with The Paradox Suite which is one of the best fics of any fandom. Long, beautiful, with Sherlock a shade darker than in the series and a John just as accepting of all his faults up to a point and their relationship beautifully messed up and morbid and almost sweet.

Then, this meta on modern John Watson and his military career, what it would be in real life.

I wish I knew of a primer but even google isn't helping. It would be awesome to have a place that explains what Colin Morgan has to do with Sherlock and why Mycroft/Lestrade and jam... *sigh*

Instead, have a link to Lestrade being into fat!Mycroft.

Well, it's BBC, you never know if a new season is really approved or not until it starts happening, and it's not like Martin or Benedict don't have other stuff going on, so even though as it stands now there will be a third season, it might still change any day/month/year. I mean, this season was supposed to happen last year and they dragged it out till now.
But I'm actually still kinda hoping Sherlock does appear at the end of the episode and we know he's alive and well, but, who the hell knows anything until I watch it and am broken and tumblr needs to stfu.

Eh, what can you expect.

DAMN FUTURE! CANADA BETTER TREAT US LIKE ... KINGS.

So, if it comes back, he's alive, if it doesn't, he's dead?

Yeah, especially with Chad.

RIIIGHT? I have to go now, but I loooove you and I'm glad you're home. <3

Yep. Doesn't even leave us room for "well maybe he came back" if the show doesn't continue.

Yepp :D

Loovee! Have fun :D :*
