I'm writing my paper and I get to the part where new students might be overwhelmed by the experience of studying in a new country, cultural shock etc, and I realize I'm using the basic definition of "intelligence," or lack thereof really. It's not all my fault, I am mostly translating after all, but the phrase I used is mine, and suddenly I was struck by my own dickishness. For shame, self, for shame.
