Mar. 6th, 2010 04:04 pmWorld is full of fandoms in which you can write "beautiful fingers" and mean -clean, manicured, soft- y'know, 'beautiful' like the moon reflecting in the water is 'beautiful'.
Bandom is just not one of them. :) And I mean that with like, all the love in the world. Musician-fingers are freaky. They are broken and spread out and peeled and splinted and wounded and bleedy and callused.
The one time I tried playing the guitar and my friend pressed my finger on the neck so it was actually strong enough I flipped in my head - There's a wire under my finger! OMG THERE'S A WIRE UNDER MY FINGER STOP PRESSING!
But I'm cool so all I said was "Hm, I don't think this is for me."
Piano went somewhat better, and I was pretty frikkin good at it, but then we got to the part were I was like:
"Yeah, my pinky can't do that."
"Sure it can, you just have to..."
"Nooo."
"But if you just..."
"Nuh-huh."
"Your fingers will..."
"HURT. FOREVER. OMG SHUTTUP NO."
Don't get me wrong. Their fingers ARE ~beautiful. But they are beautiful because of what they do, not because of what they look like.

(Link leads to Oh no they didn't) In case you don't know, which I doubt but eh, 90% of ONTD commenters suck sweaty balls and you probably don't want to read any of them. Just saying. I didn't read them tho, so who knows, maybe this time they are all unicorns and rainbows.
Linked to me by a friend who fequents ONTD and I love her so much right now there are no words (she's not even into music much, she just loves me back!)

They've had a new song out for a while now and I've been hanging on their myspace (I'm trying not to rip anything yet because I'm NICE like that. I only steal from rich people... and give to myself) listening to the music and y'know what... I like them. Now I'm really hoping they make it and there's a full album I can listen to.
Also, I think the drummer sings too. (ETA: And he quotes Ryan Ross/The Young Veins. Always a win.)

Day 07 → A photo that makes you happy
I can't show it to you, even under flock, my family would freak if it ever came out at all, but, well, I saved a lot of old photos from my family and there's one of my grandpa as a kid, he's wearing the Oliver Twist garment (not as a Halloween gig). Hat, coat, old boots and a scarf. (Seriously, Ryan Ross would be jealous.) He's tiny, adorable and probably starved, but, well, those were the times. I grin like crazy every time I see it.
So, instead, here, have some Patrick being adorable by, y'know, BREATHING.

Day 08 → A photo that makes you angry/sad
Pretty much any photo by James Nachtway makes me sad, he's my favorite war photographer. But mostly it's a photo from this sequence. I can't find it online but I have it printed out (and on my wall, yeah, I'm that kind of freaky; when my friend comes to sleep over she covers all the walls first.) Photo was taken in Grozny, Chechnya and supposedly, but there is no proof, the kid's parents were killed a few minutes before it was taken. Sorry I don't have it bigger.

As I was saying :) I watched all of Australian Idol, (in .flv, so I skipped most of it) and Pete was massively too kind to them. They were horrible, even the best of them wasn't all that good but the other two just plain sucked. And yet he found something nice to say about every one of their performances. You're a better person than I am, Pete Wentz.

Oh! I've been looking for this video... I wanna say forever but I haven't even been in the bandom for that long :) But a few days at least. It was one of the first videos of FOB I saw, so of course I didn't save it, but I love how much Patrick talks in it and even though Pete is kinda... down, he's still amazing.
First thing starts at 4:05 and is my favorite Pete moment ever cause his reaction to Patrick is brilliant.
And, unrelated to that part, in the end, at 8:10, she asks about song titles and mentions how they are totally unrelated to songs, and Pete replies, eventually: "In this record they are particularly relatable to the songs, I think, more so than they have ever been. Nobody ever likes to put the clues together, everyone needs Watson." (which will now be my tagline)

It deviates from bandom just a bit but Dean and me, that's true love, I can't make a happyspam without him. And the positions are totally random, except for the first one.
