Mmm, I do have a thing for uniforms, especially high collared, royal ones like theirs (some 70% of why I eventually decided to give them a proper listen... shallow fangirl is shallow.) and Gerard really fits nicely into one... but with Bob, he just looks like the guy who joined the army because he had to and is now letting his hair grow and doing a lot of time in the solitary confinement and will make the doctor treat the enemy guy first because he was wounded worse than all the friendlies. But the emperor totally loves him despite it and just shakes his head at all Bob's shenanigans because he knows in the end Bob will be the most loyal soldier he has. (Erm... I may have given this some thought.)
But yeah, Bob seems to be my exception to pretty much everything too. There's just something about him.
