Fandoms and ships and fic

Because I'm playing in so many now, I want to make a list.


Bandom

Pretty much the only bandom band I follow now i Panic!. I love Patrick too, but I'm not much into Black Cards, maybe if I ever get my hands on the whole album, and MCR have been a complete disappointment recently, so Panic! and Patrick it is. But, Panic! brings on so much fandom fun I don't really need anyone else :P :D (I'm torn about BCB. The fiction him in my head is awesome.)
Really they are all shippable and you know all my opinions on that so instead just have these two pics I stole from Sena, of, I guess Brendon welcoming new members.




Also, some more Patrick with leather gloves and... whatever that clothes tragedy is.




Yes. ... I mean, what?



Sherlock BBC

I LOVE this show. In case you've never seen it it's about a borderline sociopath genius gaining a heart in the shape of an army doctor. What? Detective? Crimes? I have no idea what you're talking about.

It's at least somewhat important to understand that I don't find Benedict Cumberbatch attractive on his own at all. But the intensity he brings to Sherlock is hot as hell.

To explain what I mean, observe:

I do think Martin Freeman, who plays John Watson, is a kitten of death but I understand not everyone would agree so just have him as John having invisible sex with Sherlock.


I kinda ship them in real life too but all fic about them is crappy "we got drunk and shit happened" fic so I just ship them in my heart :P



(This is a good moment to mention Martin and Benedict are both in The Hobbit and Benedict is the dragon and I don't even care about that whole series but that's too cute to be real.)

Right... BUT, that's not all.

Sherlock has a brother! Who is also really not hot to me in real life but somehow, in the show... omg Mycroft!

So, this is Mark Gatiss (he's the not massively misogynistic one of the Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat writing duo.)




And this is Mark as Mycroft.




I, and much of the fandom, ship him with DI Lestrade even though they've never had a scene together in S1 EVER.





DI Lestrade is played by Rupert Graves who escaped home at 15 to join a circus and was an actual clown and has since played almost exclusively sexually ambiguous characters and we've all seen his dick.



Rupert also seems to be getting along nicely with Martin and don't even get me started on how that makes me feel. Everyone loves killer kitten Martin. (Even David Mitchell, but that's for later.)



Cabin Pressure

Radio comedy of the highest order. If you try it, chances are you'll love it. It has witty banter, lovable characters and sexy voices.
Also starring Benedict Cumberbatch as... Martin.

I ship Martin with his co-pilot Douglas, though that actually seems to be a secondary pairing, probably because Douglas is played by Roger Allam who's a bit on the old side. (And also his character is an asshole but he does have many redeeming qualities, in my opinion.)



Two things about this. 1) Sherlock is heavy drama crime series, the fandom is all fluffy domesticity, jam, dinosaurs, sex, ironic skulls etc. Cabin Pressure is a comedy and fandom is all about rent-boy Martin trying to make his way through life the only way he can, abusive ex boyfriends and emotional issues.
2) Once on Tumblr I mentioned wanting Martin from Cabin Pressure to draw Moriarty (baddie from Sherlock)'s romantic attention. For once, I got a minion. This person wrote, and is still writing Martin/Moriarty. So far it's a really enjoyable read, a bit dark, as it should be, and a bit of an easy ride, because it's Martin's POV. <3 Moriarty is rather wonderfully played by Andrew Scott. (He is the bad kind of sociopath, killing people and all, no redeeming qualities.)




Should I just stick to the island until I'm done?

Ok.

British comedy RPF

Martin Freeman. He always enjoyed weird things. And I guess David Mitchell always enjoyed him. IDK IDK. Martin was in this sketch show David had way back when and was mentioned even in the Mitchell and Webb sketches way later. He was in The Office with Gervais and apparently was loved by him too. He calls Simon Amstell "Amst". He is LOVED, ok?

So, I ship him with Simon Amstell.
Because Simon has all these weird "demands" for his perfect man and Benedict Cumberbatch kinda fills them all and it's my dream notion that Simon stalks Sherlock shoots to get a glimpse of Benedict but Martin discovers him and doesn't mock him a lot and they bond and then there's a lot of BDSM with Simon subbing and fluffy mornings with weird music and Russell Brand being an annoying prick that he is but still somehow Simon's best friend.



(Simon Amstell btw is a brutal and intelligent comedian who used to host Never Mind the Buzzcocks, then made a very funny show Grandma's House and tours as standup comedian talking about his failed love life and such. He might actually be safe for those of you who dislike comedians because they tend to rely on disgusting stereotypes.)

On gloomy days I ship them both with Jon Richardson. Jon meets Amstell (actually meets, not just in passing) on some charity dinner thing and Russell Brand who is being a passive aggressive dick towards Martin sets up a date between Jon and Simon. For reasons not really know even to himself, Simon doesn't just say he has a boyfriend but agrees to the date. He tells Martin all about it of course and they take it from there. In real life Jon seems to be gray-sexual with some OCD mixed in, so he needs to know a person pretty well before he has sex with them or really lets them touch him, and I enjoy trying to figure out how that would fit in the story.





None of these things are being written though, by me or anyone else. Well, I wrote one Simon/Martin but way more is needed. Books.


Then there's David Mitchell.



He rants a lot. He doesn't always say the exact things I'm thinking but he says them with appropriate energy and rage. <3

Apparently Charlie Brooker had a bit of a crush on him for a while. It was pretty obvious crush. As someone on his panel show said after losing "That's ok, we knew we'd lose as soon as we saw who else was here" referring to David.



Not a lot but some fics came out of it. I think I read them all. Most, um, satisfying.

Recently I've been enjoying his banter with Lee Mack, his co-... whatever from Would I Lie to You. You know how I love differences and they constantly emphasize how David had a posh upbringing and Lee came from apparently a poor family. It makes my fanheart flutter.




Also, I don't exactly ship them but I like the appreciation Stephen Fry has for David and I like seeing it in random fics. <3



I would get into Mitchell/Webb if their writers realized that fanfiction is FICTION and it's ok to write Webb as single rather than cheating or refusing to cheat on his wife.



Nicholas Hoult

aka please someone let him have some fic-sex!

You might remember the picspam of him I posted a few weeks ago.



Well, he's pretty. He's also immensely shippable! But no one is writing anything :( There were so many Skins ships back when he worked on that. (Though other than Mitch Hewer/Joe Dempsie this was my favorite:



Shocking, I know.)

There is some Tony/Maxxie out there but it's mostly depressing as hell, idk what's up with that.




Fortunatelly, he's getting some action as Hank on X-men: First class. Just... put aside the original, you'll be happier that way. Concentrate on the fact that Hank choked Erik for some random comment but was totally ok with Alex calling him Beast and decided to take it as his name. Possibly because Alex eyefucked him while saying it IDK HOW NAMING HAPPENS.



And they would be so hot together. (I ship them with Hank in his human form and beastly too. And as mentioned before, I'm needing a fic where Beast is learning how to kiss with his new lips.)



And then there's that moment when they find out ww3 is starting and they are in a room full of people and for no reason I can understand at all (as in, directing, actor choice, script whattt?) Alex and Hank look at each other. But I can't find the gif now.

I also ship Nicholas/James McAvoy because I can. :)







Merlin AU or RPF

I can only read Merlin/Arthur as AU, be it modern setting or complete disregard of historical facts. In reality they had no chance of being anything but miserable, but since it's a world with MAGIC I don't see why they couldn't just be happy together forever :P

And I ship Colin/Bradley with a passion. So, have some pics of them.






This reminds me. I like all the tropes in this pairing. Bradley as shy and not-sure he's gay or Bradley as certain and going for it, and Colin as shy and bookish and lost or Colin as sex guru. Just... anything goes :)







Hawaii 5-0

Of course I ship the characters, they are living together. But I'm not much into RPF because Scott said some things that made me think he wasn't very happy there and I can't ignore that like everyone else seems to. If there was some Alex-fixing-it fic out there, I'd like to read that.







Though, I'm not picky.



CW RPS

I don't read Jensen/Jared any more because I read so much that it all became one same thing eventually.

But I'm doing some Amy Gumenick and Sophia Bush. They share love for abandoned animals and troubled kids and seem to be genuinely lovely people.

In my head they live together and then one day Parker (Leverage) as a 13ish year old breaks into their place to steal something and they catch her and then find Kenzi (Lost Girl) and Audrey (Haven) who are her friends, though actually Kenzi and her kinda take care of Audrey who is somehow delicate, don't ask me how, idk yet. And they somehow adopt them and live happily ever after. ...





I also occasionally read:

Reid/Morgan of Criminal Minds (Morgan calls him Pretty Boy!) but their fic also tends to be... weird. IDK, there are always issues that don't seem to be actually directly linked to either of their canons.






Charlie/Don of Numb3rs (Yeah, I have no excuse for this one.)




and Albus Severus/Scorpius. <3

There are more random pairings I like like Charles/Logan of X-men: First class but they are hard to find and rare.

Next time: Women of House MD and how much I love them.

In random news:

I can't look at him pinging his cap without thinking "Brendon Urie!"



This happened as I scrolled down my dash. It was that really weird moment when your brain needs a bit to catch up and in that nanosecond I thought "Those shoes look good on him."

i'm always impressed/amazed at how many things you feel fannishly gleeful about. i am sort of jealous i think? this was a fun post to read.

also those red shoes are completely adorable. and i'm sure would suit spencer really well.

i'm so torn on what to do with bcb. i have this stupid pern au just hanging there and he really took the wind out of my sails. i wanted to just dwell on fanon!bob to carry me through but it isn't working. i wanted to finish that by the end of this year cos otherwise it's just hanging around too long. but i don't want to leave another wip unfinished which is what i did when bandom overtook my potter love. *SIGH*

*g* It helps that a lot of these things come in different times. For instance, second season of Sherlock won't start until February and Haven happened over the summer and Nicholas Hoult has been very quite for a few months now etc. etc. So I can catch up on everything in my own time.

I know :( I had this line in my head about fic!Bob's sense of humor but now I know it's nothing like his real one and I just don't know if I can ... lie(?) like that. This twitter thing was a real - "be careful what you wish for." :(
I wish I could tell you "noo, just ignore him and go on!" But I know it's hard. *sigh* Try to push the real one out, focus on the good parts, watch some old videos... stop reading his twitter until you forget. Good luck.

i had this one conversation with brian talking about how he could be a real dick when he was feeling vulnerable or w/e but then the last twitter thing made even that just not enough. i am cross because i really enjoyed that story i was writing. /o\

what i find so frustrating is that even with the noodz thing - he was just stirring up a friend. and he really does think he's just kidding. so on the one hand i feel he's not really hateful and nasty, but on the other he has so little clue of what is ok and really has crossed over into 'SO NOT OK' territory. and doesn't care. he doesn't care he's done that. i don't think he's evil. but i think he's ignorant and hurtful. and that's still not something i feel like i can handwave for fannish purposes. which of course you get that. i'm just processing "out loud" here, not trying to inform you or anything. :P

i will give it one last effort. in my head i can almost bend it that this is the bob who lived a different life and didn't get all that stupid stuff in his brain. he was in the weyr where he learnt a little more sense. :/? or something?

*nod* yes yes, exactly. He doesn't care. I don't like ignorance but I can understand it under many, many circumstances. (We don't all hang on Tumblr after all :P :D ) But the fact that he handwaves it... idk. He really needs us to sit him down and explain facts of life.

I think, losing his dragon might have made him care, even if he didn't before. Maybe that could even work in the story? idk what kind of person he'd have to be for his dragon to chose him, but, maybe it could work?

Oh, I meant like...which season. I think you should check out Blink anyway, not because it's Doctor Who related (the Doctor's only in it for like five minutes, it's mostly the hot Oscar-nominee and her friends) because the writing is really cool and has some time travel stuff. And if you can stomach that maybe I can interest you in trying out season 5, which is the first season I liked.
