Day 17 → An art piece (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.)
Wow, visual arts are not my thing. I like Dali, Bosch and Kush and... they all have a lot of similaritis so... oh! Ok, international exchange :) There is one more artist I like :)

Ivan Generalić was a Croatian naïve art painter. I seem to generally like naive art and he was one of the best here. So, um... have two pics :)

Haven't seen Ivan Generalić before and it isn't my favorite style. But I like it, it's not what I would put in my house but would enjoy in a museum. Is he a 20th century painter or older?

I assume you mean Vladimir Kush. I really LOVE his work. He has a studio in a nearby city (known for being an arty town). It's right next to a favorite clothing store of mine. His work would fit into my living room, too bad I can't afford to own any of it. We do have his book Metaphorical Journey . We collect arts books, since we can't afford to collect much original art. We have posters from Michael Parkes (http://www.piersidegallery.com/artists/parkes/posters/), and I think his work would fit right in.

I am not a huge Dali fan, simply because I don't like that man behind the art. Do you like Miró?

Yeah, it's a bit too dark for me to put it on my wall too but his was first art I saw as a kid that grabbed my attention so it kinda stuck I guess. And I thought why not find something native :)
Yup, 20th century, he died in 1992. He mostly drew country life. And, lol, yeah, this is still a pretty accurate depiction of our villages :)

Yes Vladimir Kush! I love his ideas. (I love the art too, but the way one subject morphs into another is something that really fascinates me) I did a whole Kush/Behind the Sea thing here (http://maskitheclown.livejournal.com/1044.html).
Is his stuff expensive? I never really hear about him from other people.
And oh, that book must be wonderful to have.
I haven't heard of Parkes but those look pretty... and Miro... I've only head of him once or twice but never really looked into it. I will now, I googled some pics that seem interesting :)
Really, I know next to nothing about painting so it's hard for me to appreciate anything that isn't... pretty :)

There is a wonderful museum in Barcelona dedicated to Miró.

If Kush can afford to have multiple studio's just for his work in many cities around the world, his work is expensive. It am not even sure, I didn't even want to look at the price. I want to remember that the smallest pieces run at least $5,000.
