I was visiting skyhawke HP fanfic website, when this message popped up:

Now, I have already heard of the "women with small breasts are children" and "female ejaculation is icky" laws, but I didn't realize the law was this widespread.
The fic I was reading, btw, was Harry/Draco/Snape with Harry and Draco both well into their twenties.
Now, I honestly don't know how much of this is true,  or how relevant it is at this point (Late Andi is late) but here's a link to more info and here's the petition
Point is, censorship scares me. If you want to build a free program that parents can install on their computers that will prevent the kids from going to bad, bad places, please, do so. But this "Your kink is not my kink so you can't see it" bullshit isn't even tolerated in fandom, so why should it be in real life?

The best way to know what your children do online, keep their computers in a public location and keep an eye on what they are doing. Talk with them about safe internet usage and what they do online. As a computer programer who has worked in AI, making a problem to prevent kids going to bad, bad places is much harder than you would imagine. Partly because everyone defines something bad as something different.

For instance I know my daughter reads fanfic (Dr. Who, Twilight). Others might be shocked, but I'm not. She doesn't intentionally read smut, but she does come across it occasionally and it's been a GOOD teaching moment. We have had some really embarrassing conversations, but also extremely informative for her.

Not sure I have heard about "women with small breasts are children" laws? I do remember early filtering programs filtering out any mention of breasts, even discussions about breast cancer or breast feeding.

True, there is no universal filtering... But I meant it more in the sense that, if you (general you) want something that will magically protect your child online (even though nothing can really do that, but, some people need someone else to take the responsibility I guess?) Then it should be an individual choice. This ban over the whole country is very 1984.

And you sound like a really cool parent btw :) (not just in this instance.)

Ah, that's my sarcastic name for the law. It's the law that banns small breasts in porn because that can attract pedophiles. Much better explained here (http://www.msnaughty.com/blog/2010/01/27/now-australia-is-banning-small-boobs/).

And, you might know about this but if not, you might like it. Unfunny business community. (http://www.journalfen.net/community/unfunnybusiness/)

because if they don't think it's 'normal' and they don't like it of course it should be censored and if you DO like it, you're obviously a pervert.

Clearly :) Seriously, we in the fandom always bicker and argue over something, but when things like this happen, I have a feeling we could really teach The Real World a lot :)

It is kind of awesome that people are standing up against it. I hope your voices count.
