phaha, nooo.

World is full of fandoms in which you can write "beautiful fingers" and mean -clean, manicured, soft- y'know, 'beautiful' like the moon reflecting in the water is 'beautiful'.
Bandom is just not one of them. :) And I mean that with like, all the love in the world. Musician-fingers are freaky. They are broken and spread out and peeled and splinted and wounded and bleedy and callused.
The one time I tried playing the guitar and my friend pressed my finger on the neck so it was actually strong enough I flipped in my head - There's a wire under my finger! OMG THERE'S A WIRE UNDER MY FINGER STOP PRESSING!
But I'm cool so all I said was "Hm, I don't think this is for me."
Piano went somewhat better, and I was pretty frikkin good at it, but then we got to the part were I was like:
"Yeah, my pinky can't do that."
"Sure it can, you just have to..."
"Nooo."
"But if you just..."
"Nuh-huh."
"Your fingers will..."
"HURT. FOREVER. OMG SHUTTUP NO."

Don't get me wrong. Their fingers ARE ~beautiful. But they are beautiful because of what they do, not because of what they look like.

Two pics under the cut, one seriously GIGANTIC, to prove my point.

OMG LOOK AT HIS (right hand index) FINGER! HE LOOKS LIKE HE HAS TWO THUMBS. Ouch ouch ouch! The only way my fingers could do that would be if I broke them and then made sure they healed wrongly and maybe not even then! How is he not crying?

These two look like they spent the day digging out potatoes. I should know, because I actually did that.

it's awesome. it doesn't follow the book really, it's set later on when alice is 19 and comes back to wonderland and tim burton put his own twist to it. you'll like it i think :).
my favourite quote from the movie is "Have I gone mad? " "I'm afraid so. You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are."

Jesus fuck :( So I tried reading the wednesday night boys and it fucking... gah. I hate prostitution. It's like slavery only you get money. But apparently they aren't allowed to say no to anything, no matter how much it hurts and getting beaten up is a regular thing and just... FUCK. I don't even know why I bothered, just that people always say nice things about it :( No.

[identity profile] afterxbirth.livejournal.com 2010-03-06 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
exactly why i didn't want to read it. idk why people even LIKE reading about that.

[identity profile] maskitheclown.livejournal.com 2010-03-06 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno. Their kink is not my kink I guess. It'll take me like 20 more fics to get the imagery out of my head. Why do I always visualize everything

[identity profile] afterxbirth.livejournal.com 2010-03-06 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah but... might be just me, but i can't read about things like that. or watch movies about that or horror movies like the saw, because dude, yeah it's fiction but these things happen for real all the fucking time. and it's horrible and god, even thinking about it happening to people i care about or me is the worst thing ever.

[identity profile] maskitheclown.livejournal.com 2010-03-06 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep exactly, it+s not just fiction, it's someone's life. DNW.
But YKINMK(ATOK) is the rule I live by :)

[identity profile] maskitheclown.livejournal.com 2010-03-06 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
haha - Your kink is not my kink (and that's ok) :)

[identity profile] afterxbirth.livejournal.com 2010-03-06 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
mhmm. i'm like that too, but like, there's lots of kink out there and i can understand the appeal of a lot of them even if they're not even remotely my thing, but this one i will never ever get. sto ludi sto čudi i guess :P.

[identity profile] maskitheclown.livejournal.com 2010-03-06 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
haha, da, baš to :D

interesting thread.

we've sort of discussed this before.

and each to his own etc etc and there's lots of stuff i won't read so i'm not ever trying to push it on someone.

i just wanted to point out that all sorts of h/c are about the hurt and then them being rescued from it. there's no comfort without hurt.

just explaining that it's not so much 'oooh i want to read about people being forced into something they don't want to do!' (some people like that i guess. not me) but more getting enough 'omg NO! SOMEONE SAVE THEM!' so that when they do get saved it's a big impact.

or something. :)

[identity profile] maskitheclown.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I know it's about the comfort. (Unless it's an actual kink, like, sex-wise, or, well, some people read horror books, tastes... differ :) ) i understand completely :) It's why I can read psychological abuse and emotional angst. I'm just not so good with the physical. There's such horrible shame in 'letting' people overpower you like that and not being able to do anything about it, for me anyway, that I just can't handle it, even in theory. But I really am ok with others reading it and understand why they would :)

[identity profile] mrsquizzical.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
sure thing. :)

see, for me, psychological angst is almost unbearable. especially if there is some suspense in there as well. makes me a basket case. :P

haha, we are opposite :)
